Personalized Planner Calendar Book

Friday, July 25, 2014

It feels as if vacation has just started for me, yet I see all the back-to-schools supplies in stores already.  On one of my ventures to Walmart I found a Mead 2014/2015 weekly/monthly planner for just under $10.00.  The planner is large 8.5x 11 and has colorful tabbed months.  The one thing that caught my eye was this planner had a plastic pocket cover that you can insert a paper in.  Immediately the lightbulb in my head went off and I thought "how cool" I could personalize this planner.

I have to admit, I have been checking out all the different personalized planners online, I just couldn't justify spending over $50.00 for a planner plus shipping.  I even attempted to make my own calendar planner!  Honestly, it was still pricey to have pages copied in color and double sided!   When I found this Mead planner I became excited knowing that I could customize the front cover!

I came up with my cover using Microsoft Word on my iMac computer.  The font I used is Little Miss Print Font (download here) from dafont.com.

I added my name and school name (removed for privacy) and inserted a vacation picture of my children.  Here is the finished product - I love it!

Found at Walmart for under $10.00

Here is the Editable Version for download.

Disney Vacation Account

Monday, July 14, 2014

Don't you just love having a goal to strive for?  I accidentally stumbled upon this website and thought it was a great way for families or honeymooners to save for a Disney vacation.  It seems fairly simple and straightforward; you open an account, estimate your budget, and then deposit money weekly or monthly into your account.  If by chance you are unable go on vacation you will be refunded your money back.   If you do go on vacation, Disney will give you a $20.00 gift card for every $1,000.00 you spend on a vacation (who doesn't love a freebie?)

Vacations are a big expense, especially taking a family to Disney so involve your children in the planning process.  This is a great way to teach children about finances and saving their money towards the vacation goal.  You can have them work towards the goal by doing chores around the house, bringing back bottles, mowing lawns, etc.  Keep a "goal chart" on the fridge and color it in as you save money, this way they will have a visual of how much has been saved towards the vacation.

This would've been great when my kids were little.   Below you will find a link to sign up for your Disney account.

Happy Vacationing :-)
